ACCC Final determination on IATA review of Authorisations
Dear {Firstname},
Further to our various notices on this matter (most recently AFIF Bulletin October 25 refers), the ACCC has today released the FINAL determination on the review of all IATA activities regarding cargo activities in Australia.
In the matter of particular interest to the forwarding industry, namely the review of the Cargo Agency / Intermediary Programme (IATA Res.809zz) ,which includes the CASS Billing and Payment System), IATA have been granted an extension until August 31st 2007 (from the original request of May 31st 2007) in which to finalise their three-stage evaluation of elements which may require a request for 'immunity' from the Trade Practices Act.
AFIF believe this is a positive outcome, as we had expressed concerns at the 'Pre-determination Conference' held with the ACCC (October 19th) in regard to the tight time-frame and sought support from the ACCC to be flexible in this matter.
Please click here to view the full determination document and the summary covering letter.
Also click here to view the notes from the ACCC Pre-determination Conference on October 19,as referenced above:
There is still a long way to go in this matter and we look forward to a revised timetable in regard to the scope of the work to be undertaken by IATA. We shall keep members updated as to progress.
Thank you and kind regards
Brian Lovell
