UPDATE on Change to AQIS Import Permit Procedures

Further to AFIF Bulletin dated July 12 in regard to changes to AQIS permit assessment, approval and issuing procedures, we have been advised that the effective date has now been put back to 14 August 2006.

These changes aim to simplify the process when lodging import permit applications.

The Notice includes details about the following main changes:

1. The consolidation of Import Permits to Canberra Office.

2. Amendment to the National Co-ordination Centres roles.

3. Transfer of agricultural products from Entry Management & Permits (EMP) to the Plant Programs Section.
