Introduction of mandatory treatment requirements for all solid wood packaging and dunnage

Dear {Firstname},

AQIS have produced a notice which outlines revised procedures in relation to the ISPM 15 enforcement issue which has been the subject of discussions between industry and AQIS for some time. This should address industry concerns in relation to routine interception of packaging that does not bear valid ISPM 15 stamps.

AQIS will continue to perform random surveillance at wharves, CTOs and depots. As per current arrangements AQIS will only impede solid timber packaging that contains quarantine risks such as bark or insect infestation. Discussions continue to endeavour to extend the Broker Accreditation Scheme to cover break-bulk and air cargo thus addressing packaging compliance in a manner that has operated successfully for containerised sea cargo for many years.
