Michael Pezzullo, Chief Executive Officer, announced the appointment of Mr Roman Quaedvlieg APM to the position of DCEO Border Enforcement and warmly welcomed him to the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (ACBPS).
Roman has had a long career in policing, including as acting AFP Deputy Commissioner for Operations and, more recently, serving three years as Chief Police Officer of ACT Policing. He brings a wealth of leadership and management experience in the law enforcement arena, including in law enforcement operations and investigations, intelligence, anti-corruption, aviation security and policing.
Roman also undertook a three-year appointment with the Australian Crime Commission (ACC) with responsibilities for the transition of the former National Crime Authority to ACC, and the establishment and conduct of the ACC’s enforcement operations capability.
This appointment heralds a significant step in our reform journey. Given the need to address our future operating model, improve our law enforcement capability, and strengthen our image and reputation as a disciplined and professional service, Roman’s experience, insight and above all leadership will be of great value.
He is due to commence with ACBPS on 20 May 2013.
