Customs Broking Experience Assessment

myfreightcareer is currently working with the ACBPS to ensure that successful completion of myfreightcareer's version of a National Examination, the "
myfreightcareer Customs Broking Experience Assessment", is afforded the appropriate weight, when the CEO is assessing whether an applicant has acquired experience that fits them to be a customs broker.

N.B. We expect to make further announcements in the near future.

Is the National Examination still Relevant?

AFIF's Customs Affairs sub committee recently met with Marion Grant, the acting CEO of the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (ACBPS). The Sub-committee asked whether this ACN altered the ACBPS' perception of the relevance of "National Examinations".

We are pleased to advise that the ACBPS' perception of "National Examinations" has not changed.

The Sub-committee also posed the question:

"Does the ACBPS see the Acquired Experience section of ACN 2013/21, in relation to an applicant's employment history, to be any more than a re-statement of the legislation which has been in place for many years?".

We were advised that the catalyst for the release of the ACN was not a change to the ACBPS' view of "Acquired Experience" but rather recognition that
"a  number of organisations" may conduct an examination that assists applicants who have completed (or been exempted from) the approved course of study in demonstrating that they have the knowledge required of a customs broker".

Customs Brokers CPD Program

The myfreightcareer-AFIF CPD program is delivered online via our CPD website.

Once sessions are released they remain available on the website, allowing a myfreightcareer-AFIF CPD Program participant the flexibility to choose when to complete any session.

There is no need to immediately attempt every session as it becomes available. You may choose to wait for other sessions of more interest to be released and can always complete the earlier sessions at a later time.

Similarly, you do not need to complete all activities contained in a session in one sitting. You have the flexibility to complete the session in a manner that suits your schedule.
