First Terberg 6x4 in Australia
Terberg is the world's leading supplier of heavy duty Yard Tractors (YT) with an extensive range of models and options that allows operators to select the best configuration for
their specific local application. In Western Australia, Toll Intermodal, part of Toll Group, required low axle weights and an environmentally friendly and safe yard tractor and ordered the Terberg YT220 with a 6x4 axle configuration and a EURO 5 compliant
engine.

!P The first Terberg YT220 6x4 EURO 5 compliant yard tractor in Australia.
This is not only the first Terberg 6x4 yard tractor to be commissioned in Australia but also the first yard tractor of its type in Australia to be equipped with a EURO 5 compliant engine. According to Toll Intermodal the decision to specify the 6x4 axle configuration
was influenced by the need to allow the yard tractor unrestricted access throughout the terminal and connecting roads when handling laden trailers. The 6x4 configuration effectively delivers lower axle loads and ground bearing pressure compared to the more
popular 4x2 twin axle models.
Toll Intermodal also specified the option of the EURO 5 compliant Cummins ISB 162kW six cylinder diesel engine whose impressive environment credentials are proudly promoted on the cab of the Terberg yard tractor (see image).
Terberg is preferred by leading terminal operators because of its proven performance and reliability under local Australian conditions. They call it the
!¢DTerberg Advantage' and it was a significant factor in the purchase of this Terberg YT220 6x4
yard tractor. Terberg yard tractors feature a robust modern design combined with the most spacious cabin in the industry. Operator comfort and safety are second to
none and maximise operational productivity as well as being fully compliant with Australian OHS/WHS regulations.
In addition to the 6x4 configuration now operating in Australia, Terberg also offers a range of 4x2 and 4x4 tractors which, depending upon the model selected, are offered with the option of a Cummins or Mercedes Tier IIIA engine or EURO 5 compliant engine.
Terberg yard tractors are sold and supported in Australia by Clark Equipment through their nationwide branch network covering more than seventeen locations.

Brisbane ICHCA Lunch a Great Success

ICHCA International Chairman, David Bendall, lunch speaker and
Aurizon Senior Vice President Coal Business Development, James Moutafis,
and North Queensland Bulk Ports CEO, Brad Fish, who gave the vote of thanks.
There was a large gathering in Brisbane on 5 June for the ICHCA Queensland lunch which featured an address by Aurizon Senior Vice President Coal Business Development, James Moutafis. He provided an excellent overview of Aurizon's
approach to its business and the strategies it is adopting. The presentation was well received by the audience which included a large number of national and State industry leaders.
For the first time the ICHCA lunch venue was the Brisbane Polo Club. The club is located in Naldham House which has a strong link in Brisbane's maritime history. Naldham House
was the Australian and United Steamship Office in the mid 1800s and also the famous shipping Agency of Macdonald Hamilton - the building being named by the combined letters of
"nald-ham".

Freight Strategy to Deliver 10-year Growth
A 10-year drive to expand Queensland's rail freight capacity will be the cornerstone to the State Government's
strategy to meet a 70% growth in produce and commodity movements. Transport and Main Roads Minister, Scott Emerson, said the draft Moving Freight strategy which identifies 38 actions would support the resources, agriculture, construction and tourism sectors.
"We've
already taken actions to fund additional train lines for the Darling Downs, more cattle train services and open up routes for safer classes of heavy vehicles",
Mr Emerson said.
"We also have funding submissions before the Federal Government for improvements to train lines on the Sunshine Coast and
between Townsville and Mt Isa. Today we are releasing this strategy for industry feedback to ensure Queensland has a clear direction to meet the
ever-expanding freight task. Peak bodies like Agforce, Australian Logistics Council and the Queensland Transport and Logistics Council have told us they want better access to rail, while still maintaining
a strong road transport industry and we are supporting these calls."
Freight volumes across Queensland are forecast to increase from 881 million tonnes in 2010 to 1550 million tonnes in 2021.
Some of the key actions and initiatives in Moving Freight include:
- Preserving train paths on regional rail lines for non-coal freight.
- Making major freights routes more resilient to floods and natural disasters.
- Better collection and analysis of freight data.
- Continuing to reduce red tape for heavy vehicle permits.
"This strategy outlines short, medium and long-term actions to move freight onto rail and improve the efficiency
of the road freight. We've received input from regional and rural industries to develop this
strategy and I look forward to feedback over the coming months."
The Moving Freight strategy is available at
www.tmr.qld.gov.au
It is expected to be finalised by late 2013 and will support the government's current road and rail infrastructure program.
Browse Gas Precinct Acquisition Go Ahead
The WA Government will press ahead with the acquisition of the land for a gas precinct near James Price Point to encourage the development of nearby gas fields. Premier and State Development Minister, Colin Barnett, said the acquisition of the land was necessary
to establish the precinct as a project-ready site to foster the efficient development of the offshore Browse Basin and onshore Canning Basin gas fields.
"This region contains world-class gas resources and there is interest in a suitable site to support the development of LNG or domestic gas
projects in the Kimberley", Mr Barnett said.
Under native title agreements reached with the Goolarabooloo Jabirr Jabirr native title claimant group in June 2011, the traditional owners of the site will receive payments of more than $30million to benefit indigenous people across the Kimberley region.
"The Aboriginal people of this region entered into an agreement with the State to ensure that the benefits of development in the Kimberley
would, first and foremost, flow to them. The decision by Woodside and its joint venture partners not to proceed with their original proposal for the development of Browse was disappointing, but this move will ensure the benefits from the State Government will
still flow to the people of the Kimberley".
The land acquisition will trigger a $10million economic development fund and $20million for an indigenous housing fund.
Mr Barnett said the traditional owners would have an ongoing role in managing the environmental, social and heritage outcomes of the precinct, which would be central to the future development of the Browse Basin.
"The precinct does not rely upon any single proponent. We are taking a long-term approach to developing the area for the future processing
and export of natural gas", he said.
The agreement covering the site also ensures its use is limited to supporting the development and processing of gas and not for other industrial purposes.
"If the Government doesn't
act now to secure the area, it could face substantial costs when re-negotiating approvals and create a disincentive for any new entrant. The gas is there and it is just a matter of time before it is used. We are being prudent about its development and aiming
to ensure the maximum benefit will flow through to the people of Broome, the Kimberley and right across Western Australia.
"The development of these projects will provide a major boost to the regional economy through jobs, training and business opportunities across
the wider community", Mr Barnett said.
Inaugural Victorian Freight Advisory Council Round table
Freight industry heavy hitters have gathered together with Minister for Ports, David Hodgett, and Minister for Public Transport and Roads, Terry Mulder, at the inaugural Ministerial Freight Advisory Council Round Table to discuss key directions for the sector.
Both Ministers confirmed the Victorian Government will soon release a detailed Victorian Freight and Logistics Plan and the Round Table plays a key role in finalising industry input.
Addressing the Round Table, Mr Hodgett said the Government's highest freight priority was ensuring availability of port gateway capacity.
"It is a fantastic opportunity to have all of the key industry players in one room, with one common objective, to provide the insight and direction
required to maintain and increase Victoria's competitive edge,"
Mr Hodgett said.
"As the Minister for Ports I'm
proud to say the Government has a clear strategy for increasing port capacity to meet expected demand for containers, the most rapidly growing and valuable of all the port trades. Action is well and truly underway in this regard. We're
expanding capacity at the Port of Melbourne with the $1.6 billion Port Capacity Project and we've begun the process of creating additional capacity
at the Port of Hastings by allocating $110 million to progress planning for Victoria's second container port,"
he said.
"We're also improving our inland
freight network through the $28 million Transport Solutions initiative to support Victoria's growing regional export market which leads the nation
in agricultural exports, accounting for 29% of all food and fibre exports.
"We know Melbourne has excellent road and rail links connecting the port to the city and beyond, standing it apart from other Australian ports.
This will be enhanced further with the construction of the East West Link, which will provide a great boost to our freight network. It is absolutely essential that we continue to invest in our freight and logistics network and gathering key industry representatives
together gives us the engagement opportunities to ensure the sector continues to thrive," Mr Hodgett said.
Mr Mulder said the Government's initiatives were aimed at maintaining Victoria's
leadership in the nation's freight and logistics sector.
"The Government has declared itself an unequivocal supporter of the freight industry and we are determined to maintain the competitive edge we
have built up over several decades," Mr Mulder said.
"Last year, the Government established the Ministerial Freight Advisory Council to ensure business had a seat at the table and that a mechanism
was in place for high-level advice to be provided on matters relating to freight and logistics. Meeting with the key industry players through the Round Table is an invaluable way to address challenges within the industry and plan how we can best capitalise
on Victoria's competitive advantages in freight and logistics.
"Through our focus on freight we have already delivered the first stage of the Geelong Grain Loop upgrade, upgraded and reopened the Rainbow to
Dimboola Line for grain export, delivered the Wimmera Intermodal Terminal and Iluka Mineral Sands rail siding, as well as starting construction on the Echuca to Toolamba line for rice export and the Warncoort Crossing Loop,"
he said.
"The Government also reconfirmed its commitment to the freight and logistics sector in the 2013/14 State Budget with over $500 million for roads
projects that will benefit freight. This includes West Gate Bridge maintenance and funding for the East West Link which will forge links to the Port of Melbourne and Melbourne airport, meaning huge benefits to freight networks.
"Combined with initiatives such as the Moving More with Less initiative to improve truck movements throughout Victoria and planning for the development
of key metropolitan intermodal terminals to feed Victoria's ports and interstate freight, we are implementing a smooth-running and decentralised
system geared for efficiency with less intrusion on inner Melbourne networks," Mr Mulder said.
