Are you ready for eAWB?
|

|
|
|
|
The recent approval of the IATA eAWB Multilateral agreement has caused an upswing in interest across the industry for a migration to eAWB. The target
levels that IATA have set for eAWB are:
2013: 20% eAWB on feasible (MP4,MC99,TW routes)
2014: 50% eAWB on feasible (MP4,MC99,TW routes)
2105: 100% eAWB on feasible (MP4,MC99,TW routes)
There is comprehensive information available for the industry on moving to eAWB at the IATA web site,
www.iata.org/e-AWB
Here in Australia, the forwarding community is very well placed to implement eAWB. This is because over many years, FWB compliance levels have been steadily increasing here, to the point where industry estimates are that in excess of 97% of shipments departing
Australia already have the FWB provided by the forwarder prior to lodgement of cargo.

So what is involved to move to eAWB?
Firstly, as eAWB relies entirely on the electronic data, 100% FWB compliance is required. FWB's are validated to IATA standards when they arrive at our network, prior to any version translation or airline-specific validation that may occur before the FWB data
is sent to the airline or GHA. When your FWB is successfully validated, CCN returns an FMA message. It is most important to check your message logs in your host system or on
www.ccnhub.com.au to ensure your message has been received and has successfully passed the validation. If your message has failed validation for any reason, CCN returns an FNA message, again to your host system as well
as displaying the information in the Gateway Report on
www.ccnhub.com.au. For further information on the Gateway report function, please contact
CCN Customer Support.
The FSU RCS (Freight Status Update - Received From Shipper) from the airline (to conclude the eAWB Contract) is displayed in your Gateway Report on
www.ccnhub.com.au, as well as being returned to your host system.
In our opinion, the most important aspect of eAWB for the forwarders here in Australia is the detailed assessment of each airline's eAWB SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). As airlines issue you with their planned SOP for eAWB in Australia, we recommend this
be studied carefully to ensure all aspects are covered and all contingencies that you may require are in place. CCN would be pleased to assist you with this process. Please
contact us for further enquiries.

Remember to check your FMA & FNA
A reminder to all connected agents to remember to check your message logs in your host system or the Gateway Report on
www.ccnhub.com.au to ensure that your FWB or FHL has been successfully received at CCN, with the appropriate response (FMA) also received from CCN and the airline/GHA.
Routing of domestic transfers for exports from AU
We would like to take this opportunity to remind forwarders that for all shipments where the first sector is domestic and being carried by QF (AAE), the first "routing and flight" sectors must be shown as QF to ensure your FWB is correctly distributed. Please
remember to check your FMA response to ensure you have received an FMA from QF. If the FMA is listed as received from AAE, please
contact us so corrective action can be taken.
Further questions or comments?
We would welcome any questions or comments you may have on CCN services, or any issue related to eBusiness or data transfer in the air cargo industry. Simply
contact us and we would be pleased to assist.
