VTA Hits the Road to Host Free Regional Breakfasts

The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) and the Victorian Waste Management Association (VWMA) will host regional Breakfast Workshops in the Victorian towns of Bendigo, Sale, Traralgon, Mildura, Shepparton, Warrnambool and Ballarat from late August through to early October 2012.

VTA CEO, Neil Chambers said "We are hitting the road to visit regional transport & logistics and waste companies to discuss their views, and to provide them with valuable information on the latest regulatory issues and business initiatives."

The Workshops will cover the following topics:

  • Industry Update - Current industry developments and how they will affect businesses
  • Industrial Relations - Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal
  • Local Issues - Discussion of issues that are important in the region
  • Workers Compensation - Businesses compliance, cost minimisation and injured worker support
  • Superannuation and Business - Working together for results
  • Health Insurance - Keeping employees health in focus
  • Freight Warranty Program
  • WorkSafe Workplace Health Checks

Bulk Tanker Emergency Response Day

The National Bulk Tankers Association (NBTA) is hosting a day of case studies, information sharing and debate on the topic of bulk tanker emergency response on Thursday, 6 September at the Melbourne Park Function Centre.

Designed to share lessons and improve outcomes, the day includes a diverse range of presenters and attendees from across competent authorities, professional responders, as well as from transport operators, product owners, oil companies, equipment manufacturers, road operators and industry professionals, including the insurance sector.

VTA Workers Compensation Committee Meeting

The next meeting of the VTA's Workers Compensation Group will be held at the VTA office on Thursday, 16 August at 2pm. This very informative and active group have identified an issue with the calculations around PIAWE (a worker's weekly payment amount based on their Pre-Injury Average Weekly Earnings).

Worksafe has agreed to send a representative to the meeting to assist companies to understand the calculations and answer any questions you may have.

VTA members are welcome to attend - please feel free to invite payroll staff or the person responsible for calculating the rate.
