New Legal Obligations for Synthetic Greenhouse Gases

As you may be aware, legislative amendments regarding the import and export of synthetic greenhouse gases will apply from 1 July 2012, as part of the Australian Government's Clean Energy Future Plan.
 
These amendments include the introduction of a carbon charge component which is based on an equivalent carbon price, and payable for synthetic greenhouse gases or equipment containing these gases that are either imported or manufactured in Australia. This is in addition to the existing administrative levy.
 
The Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Pollution and Communities, have issued a Notice and several fact sheets to AFIF, some of which may be useful for you and your customers. The original letter of advice and the related documents are linked here:
