Further to recent AFIF Bulletins in regard to air cargo security and specifically regarding the Chain of Custody Statement (CHoCS), the Office of Transport Security (OTS) have issued an advice, effective immediately which should assist in regulatory compliance efficiency.
The OTS has listened to the requests of AFIF and others for simplification of issues around the CHoCS regulatory process and on the basis of this feedback the Department has progressed a minor amendment to the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005. To improve the efficiency of issuing ChOCS.
Effective from 27 November 2012, Regulation 4.41E is amended such that a ChOCS issued by a regulated business DOES NOT have to state the time and date when the regulated business took possession of the cargo. Other information required to be recorded on a ChOCS has not been changed.
Please advise all concerned of this update
