We will discuss how the following can impact your business:
Carbon pricing, ACCC approach and recent notices from shipping lines: Richard Westmoreland, Partner - Competition and Consumer Group, will talk about the introduction of the carbon tax and what you can and can't do in passing on any related costs to your customers. Richard will also comment on the recent carbon price related increases introduced by the stevedores and some shipping companies and the forced withdrawal of some of those increases.
Termination issues: Steven Penning, Partner - Workplace Relations and Safety Group, will speak on termination of employment, and minimising the risks for your business. Steven will give you some tips to assist in avoiding unfair dismissal and adverse action claims.
Sub-contractor indemnities: Danella Wilmshurst, Partner - Maritime and Trade Group, will discuss sub-contractor indemnities and the implications for your business.
