Port Botany Landside Improvement Strategy (PBLIS) Switched On

 

Late last month, following nearly two years of industry consultation, collaboration and feedback, Sydney Ports Corporation switched on reciprocal financial penalties for stevedores and road carriers who do not meet mandated PBLIS operational performance standards at Port Botany.

Truck Tracking On Its Way To Port Botany

Work is underway on the implementation of a truck tracking system for the second quarter of 2011, as part of the Port Botany Landside Improvement Strategy (PBLIS), Sydney Ports Chief Executive Officer Grant Gilfillan announced recently.

February 2011 marked the busiest month for Sydney’s record 2010/11 cruise season, with 27 visits to Sydney in just 28 days.

Stronger Chinese demand for full containerised exports has helped push Port Botany to yet another record half-yearly result.

Total container volume throughput passing through Port Botany for 1 July 2010 to 31 December 2010 was 5.9% higher than the corresponding period last year.

 

 

 

Public Comments Sought on Transport Vision

In February the Commonwealth Government released the draft National Freight Strategy for public feedback.

According to the Minister for Infrastructure, with freight volumes nationwide set to double between 2007 and 2030, there's a clear and urgent need for national leadership and long term planning to make sure our transport infrastructure can cope with this much greater demand.
