Premium
Traffic Monitor - November 2010
|
|
Released 17
January 2011
Key points from our full report
on
premium and economy travel in November:
|
- The upwards
trend in air travel, particularly on premium class seats, remained
intact during November;
- There was a
slowdown in the year-on-year growth rate for premium travel from 11%
in October to 9.6% in November, but a large part of this was due to
strong growth last year;
- Economy
travel also slowed from 7.6% to 7% in November for similar reasons;
- Seasonally
adjusted data show a small dip in the level of passenger numbers
between October and November but this was well within the usually
volatility of this data;
- Annualizing
month-to-month growth rates, adjusted for seasonal fluctuations, can
give a better indication of underlying growth rates than the
year-on-year rates quoted above;
- In the 11
months to November both economy and premium travel volumes have
expanded at an average annualised rate of just under 6%, which is
close to trend;
- Business
travel continue to be the key driver for both seat classes and
recent improvements in business confidence are a positive lead
indicator for air travel in the next few months.
