TT CLUB provide guidance re Delayed Original Bills of Lading

The TT Club has shared with AFIF advice that they are providing to their members in regard to problems that may arise due to the delay in the arrival by air of original Bills of Lading (B/L).

Under normal practice, the original B/L would be required for release of most cargo, however due to the airline backlogs caused by the Iceland volcano problem, some of these Bills may be late in arriving, creating potential delays in cargo release and resultant storage charges. Great care needs to be exercised where release of cargo is requested in the absence of such documentation.

The TT Club has proposed some good temporary solutions, which if you are not a customer of the TT Club Insurance group, you might wish to discuss with your own Liability or Professional Indemnity Insurer and the Consignee and Shipper, as applicable.

Please refer to the attached TT Club Circular and kindly advise all concerned.

Please advise all concerned.

Thank you
