Revised Incoterms to take effect from January 2011

A revision of the existing trading term rules enshrined in the 'Incoterms 2000' publication, has been completed by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). As a result,'Incoterms 2010' will come into force on 1 January, 2011.

During a lengthy revision process, international business and legal experts considered more than two thousand recommendations from around the world. The result is an improved, modern version, with some rationalisation and clarifications.

We have been advised of a series of Seminars being presented by respected and knowledgeable speakers and encourage members to attend and importantly to also advise their customers who will be affected by these changes.

Exporters and importers will need to correctly apply Incoterms 2010 to their merchandise trade sale and purchase contracts from 1 January 2011 and these seminars will explain the substantial changes resulting from the revision.

Thanks and regards
