2010 Quarantine Approved Premises (QAP) Renewals

AQIS have posted the following (PDF attached) important notice today in regard to QAP renewals.

As indicated in the 2010 QAP Renewal Package and the renewal reminder notice (dated 25 May 2010), under section 46A of the Quarantine Act 1908, failure to take the required action for renewal of QAP approval by the specified deadline results in expiry of QAP approval as at midnight 30 June 2010.

QAP operators have until close of business (COB) 30 June 2010 to complete any outstanding renewal requirements including full payment of the renewal fee. Payment can be made by contacting DAFF Corporate Finance on 1800 647 531.

Any QAP that does not complete the renewal requirements by 30 June 2010 will need to undertake the following:

Remove any items still subject to quarantine at the premises. This could involve either arranging for the appropriate quarantine inspections or arranging for the movement of quarantine material to a QAP. Please be aware that any movement of items subject to quarantine can only be conducted with permission from AQIS (under a Quarantine Order).

Remove all quarantine signage from your premises. All expenses associated with any actions required by AQIS will be your responsibility.

From 1 July 2010, an AQIS officer will visit your premises to ensure compliance with the above requirements. This inspection will be charged at AQIS fee-for-service rates.

Should you have any queries in regards to this advice, you should contact your regional Approved Premises Officer. Contact details for Approved Premises Officers can be found at www.aqis.gov.au/qapcontacts
