The CBFCA has extended an invitation to AFIF members to attend their upcoming Southern Region Convention to be held at the Rydges Hotel, Preston Melbourne. Saturday 17 April 2010 is the main Convention with a heavy weighting to regulatory compliance and transport related issues followed by an evening of networking dinner and entertainment.
Program highlights include:
- Port of Melbourne Corporation and Melbourne Airport to provide an update on latest port and airport developments.
- Neil Chambers, Victorian Transport Association to provide an update on empty container park capacity issues and container detention, formation of working groups to address the current issues.
- Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service, Australian Customs and Border Protection Service to address compliance and industry consultation issues.
- Stephen Spencer, Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government to provide an update on the requirements for importation of vehicles to Australia and import permit requirements.
- Legal commentary by Andrew Hudson, Hunt and Hunt Lawyers.
- Peter Scott, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to explain why freight forwarders may be subject to serious criminal charges for non compliance with sanction restrictions and implementation of improved export procedures.
- Richard Pierse, VFLC Airfreight Working Group to explain the role of the working group and how freight forwarders can get involved.
- Roberto Bergami, Victoria University to discuss the need for industry training now and in the future.
