Tightened Guidelines for Tariff Concession System
Dear {Firstname},

In 2009, the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research announced that the government would tighten guidelines for the Tariff Concession System (TCS), administered by Customs and Border Protection ('CBP'). The proposed guidelines were issued for public comment in September and as a result, a number of changes have been incorporated.

The primary change for the TCS is the release of a new application form for Tariff Concession Order applications. The CEO of CBP has approved use of the revised B443 form. The revised form was placed on the CBP website on 1 March 2010 and will take effect for all applications on or after 29 March 2010. The existing B443 form may continue to be used until 28 March 2010. The details can be found at this website page: http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page4402.asp

CBP has advised that they are currently developing a more user-friendly design of the form and will place this on the website before 29 March 2010.

An Australian Customs Notice 2010/03 explains more about the revised form. Should members

have any enquiries, please email: tarcon@customs.gov.au

Thank you and kind regards,
