| Dear {Firstname},
The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) has issued two Notices advising of changes to charging and payment requirements.
Notice AQIS 2-2010 covers time based charging for entry processing. You may be aware that prior to the last fee review all entry were processed on a fixed fee basis irrespective as to time taken. To ensure that more complex entries that took well in excess of the average time allowed when the fixed fee was established the fee review agreed that a time based fee be applied. Page 8 of the Charging Guidelines for Import Clearance make specific reference to this issue.
Notice 3 -2010 covers the requirements for pre-payment of the lodgement and initial processing fee for clients that are not "AQIS account clients". This requirement will be enforced from 1st March 2010.
Please advise all concerned.
Thanks and regards,
