Port Botany truck operators wanted for free diesel retrofit demonstration program

The NSW Roads and Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) is inviting road transport operators based at Port Botany to take part in a free diesel retrofit demonstration program at Port Botany during 2009/10.  The program will involve the fitting of ‘partial particle traps’ on the exhausts of up to 20 pre-2002 diesel trucks operating from Port Botany.  It is estimated that these devices can reduce a diesel trucks emissions by up to 50 percent.

 

 

Port Botany expansion gathers momentum

The $1 billion expansion of container facilities at Port Botany has reached a significant phase with the laying of concrete “counterforts” which will form the face of the third terminal’s 1850 metre long wharf.

 

Sydney Harbour "exercise big dipper" oil spill response simulation

Sydney Ports Corporation staged ‘Exercise Big Dipper’ on 22 October 2009, a simulated oil spill, designed to test the emergency response capabilities of Sydney Ports Corporation and Shell.

 

 

Sydney Ports puts stevedores on notice

Sydney Ports Corporation Chief Executive, Grant Gilfillan, this month said he would speak to Ports Minister Joe Tripodi about using regulations to implement landside port reforms if there is not an immediate improvement from stevedores following two weeks of poor performance at Port Botany.

 

Sydney embarks on another busy cruise ship season
