Warning of Possible Fraudulent Activity

In 2007 some of our members were approached to quote on shipments of computer cartridges by airfreight to Ghana. We know of at least one example where both the Freight Forwarder and the actual shipper were the victims of fraud as a result.

It appears that a similar situation may again be occurring. We have reported the matter to the Federal Police who are investigating. In the meantime we suggest that you exercise caution and are wary of committing to any such arrangement if you receive a request to quote for a similar shipment to the following sample:

Description Of Goods:Computer Cartridges
Quantity:100 PCS
Weight:36kgs
Dimension of Box:24inches L x 20inches B x 15 inches H
Destination Port:Accra, Ghana
Service Required:Door to Airport & Door to Door

Please indicate the following on your quotes:

(1) Cost of shipping to above to Ghana
(2) Methods of payments acceptable

PO Box 374,
St Marys NSW 2760
AUSTRALIA

Key identifiers:
Destination: GHANA
Contact address: PO BOX
Contact Details: No phone number
Description: Computer goods
Subject Header: QUOTE

If you do receive such a request, do not alert the person of this advice. Until we receive further advice, I suggest that you let us know if you receive such a request.

Thanks and regards,
