Issue: Stevedore Operational and Carrier Congestion issues compounded by ongoing weather issues.
Short Description of the Issue:
Carriers, DP World and Patrick and have all experienced enforced delays over the past 2 weeks.
Sydney Ports has been in contact with stakeholders in recognition of the resultant flow-on issues both up and down the supply chain.
Impact of the Issue:
A number of concerns with respect to delays have arisen over the past 2 weeks including those associated with operational constraints, the Sydney dust storms, this week's weather, and reported poor slot utilisation over the long weekend.
The issues raised present an opportunity for cross industry resolution as we move into the upcoming peak period.

Resolution action:
Sydney Ports will continue to proactively monitor port operations, seek data and provide relevant notice updates as required.
The issues that have been noted to date will be raised at the next Sydney Ports Cargo Facilitation Committee meeting scheduled for 20th October 2009 with a view to constructive resolution by all parties.
