Sydney Ports Landside Improvement Strategy Update

Further to our previous Bulletin on this subject: http://www.afif.asn.au/pdf/2009/news/6Jan09_PortBotanyReformUpdate.htm , we are providing more details as advised by Sydney Ports:

The industry trials that have commenced as part of the Port Botany Landside Improvement Strategy will continue until Sunday March 1st and are based on a 24-hour day.

The purpose is to collect data to provide a baseline on current performance, including, but not limited to:

  • Vehicle processing times within the terminals
  • Vehicle Booking System (VBS) utilisation
  • Carrier performance

For this trial it will be business as usual for the stevedores, empty container parks and carriers. Daily and weekly performance reports for container operations during the trial periods will be published on the Sydney Ports' website.
