Australia implements Montreal Convention for
international air carriage

From 24 January 2009 the Montreal Convention applies to international air carriage between Australia and other countries which have implemented this Convention. The Montreal Convention introduces unlimited liability of carriers for passenger claims through a two-tiered system, allows passenger claims to be brought in a 'fifth jurisdiction' and includes provisions for liability for baggage and cargo and for delay.
