Qantas Sydney Freight Terminal No.2 Safety Plans

Industry representatives from AFIF and the CBFCA met yesterday with Qantas to discuss the proposed implementation of a new safety Traffic Management Plan for the Qantas Sydney Freight Terminal No.2 (SFT2).

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to maximise efficient operations within occupational health and safety guidelines, in order to achieve a workable outcome for all parties.

Qantas Freight have recently introduced a trial of revised OHS procedures at Sydney Freight Terminal No.2 (SFT2) in line with state and federal legislative requirements. It is also likely that similar changes will be introduced at SFT1 in the near future.

In essence, the main operational impact is that truck drivers will be required to observe new safety zones and will be segregated from the operation of equipment during loading of trucks.

Following this initial discussion, further specific meetings have been planned in order to work through the finer detail. Proposed initiatives will be trialled in the meantime, prior to full implementation.

AFIF and the CBFCA will remain actively involved in ongoing consultative forums and will keep members up to date with developments.

Thank you and kind regards
