CBFCA and AFIF work together on
Regulated Air Cargo Agent Training for industry

Dear Firstname,

The Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia Inc (CBFCA) and the Australian Federation of International Forwarders Limited (AFIF) announced today that they are planning to work collaboratively in the creation of training to meet the needs of the associations’ respective members and the Regulated Air Cargo Agent (RACA) community generally for the delivery of high quality training under the new aviation security requirements planned for commencement later this year. The RACA training, which is mandated under the Aviation Transport Security Act, will be developed using the combined resources of the two associations and will be designed to offer a range of courses that will assist members in meeting their compliance obligations under the Act. AFIF have significant experience in the delivery of aviation security training under the current program and the CBFCA, as the creator of the highly successful National Customs Brokers Course, brings an extensive knowledge and experience of training design and development to meet the high standards required by the Department of Transport and Regional Services through its Office of Transport Security (OTS).

The CBFCA and AFIF see this collaboration in the creation of this training as a logical step to ensure that industry is able to meet its air cargo security compliance obligations with a clear choice of training provider utilising quality training programs at competitive rates for members. Training will be provided using a blended approach combining Internet-based training with some localised training within the workplace in line with the stringent quality requirements of the OTS.

Further details of the combined AFIF-CBFCA training programs for regulated air cargo agents will be available prior to the commencement of the new training requirements including the optional opportunity to customise the training to meet the needs of a member’s Transport Security Plan (TSP).
