The Australian Federation of International Forwarders (AFIF), Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia Inc (CBFCA) and Qantas Freight (QF) have now held three working group meetings (including a site visit) since the public forum on 4 May 2007, to address specific operational and liability issues in regard to the second Qantas Sydney freight terminal (SFT2) being established at Burrows Road, Alexandria.

 

The main issues discussed are referenced in the attached updated Q & A documentation produced by QF.

We encourage members to examine the document to ensure that all potential issues are covered.

There will be period of trials beginning in mid - July involving DHL Global Forwarding, when all operational and security plans will be thoroughly tested and reported back to QF, AFIF and CBFCA. Based on current schedules, it is anticipated that SFT2 will 'go-live' at the end of July, following successful completion of the trials.
