An Alternative Solution Peak Container Import Season
Dear Firstname,
The 'Peak Season' for containerised imports from the Far East to Australia and the problems importers and freight forwarders encounter when trying to secure container shipping space from Main Line Operators (MLO) is wel documented year after year.
Problems include missed transhipment connections, short-shipments and repeated 'roll-overs' of cargo from one vessel to another at load ports in Asia.
The results of this shortage of shipping space is extra costs to importers and merchants in Australia through failed delivery of products and harm to reputation and lost revenue opportunity at the retail end of the supply chain.
Australian importers and their freight forwarders can forecast peak season volumes well in advance, However shipping Line's servicing these routes fail to provide increased shipping space and instead maintain regular fixed capacity services and coincidently, impose increased freight rate charges plus a peak season surcharge.
It is during this period that an alternative Trade Route would allow the delivery of surplus capacity container volumes from the Far East to Australian customers.
The new deep water Port of Darwin has connectivity at the waterfront with the North - South railway operated by Freightlink Rail that feeds into the national rail network.
Cost evaluations demonstrate that during the peak season period a general container can be delivered from wharf Singapore to railhead Melbourne equal to the gross freight charge for a container on the all sea route.
We would very much like your support to attend a short presentation hosted by the Department of Chief Minister of the Northern Territory Government explaining that an alternative route does exists during the PEAK SEASON.
