Australian Customs - Supply Chain Security Project

Dear Firstname,

Customs have been working on a Supply Chain Security project with industry which will involve all parties in the logistics chain. This project is in line with a WCO initiative to accredit 'Authorised Economic Operators', the ultimate aim being that these entities will have a level of security clearance permitting, amongst other benefits, unimpeded cargo movements in the event of a potential general trade embargo as a result of a threat of terrorism in a trade sector.

Some of our members may have already been contacted by Customs in regard to this initiative and Customs will be making a presentation on this subject at the forthcoming AFIF 2007 Conference in Cairns (May 23 - 25), where they will outline the stages of the project which will be rolled out hopefully during 2008.

In the meantime please refer to the attached latest News on the project from the project team at Customs. Please click here to view.

Thank you and kind regards

Brian Lovell
