Friday, July 06, 2007 APEC Summit Sydney - Effect on Road Transport BriefingDear Firstname, As you would no doubt be aware , Sydney will be hosting the next high level APEC meeting between September 2nd and 9th, 2007. Friday the 7th has been Gazetted as a public holiday for Metropolitan Sydney, due to the presence of the leaders of the APEC countries traveling to the meetings.
We have been in contact with the Air & Sea Cargo CTO's and also Customs and whilst, in some cases, there will be a Public Holiday type cover, it will be ' business as usual'.
However, during transit from the airport of some of the World leaders, there will be progressive temporary road closures and there will also be stringent security procedures in place for certain deliveries of goods into central Sydney.
The NSW branch of the Australian Trucking Association (ATA), in conjunction with the NSW Police, are preparing briefing sessions to advise members and industry in general about the arrangements and we encourage those members who may be affected to send a representative to these sessions.
Number are filling fast, so we encourage you to sign up asap. Please click here to view information and to register direct with the ATA.
Please pass this info to all interested persons.
Thank you and kind regards, Brian Lovell Cheif Executive Officer Suite 403, Level 3 | |
