AIRFREIGHT

New IATA Cargo Agency Program Takes Effect
Following IATA'S decision some time ago not to request further immunity from the Trade Practices Act in relation to the Cargo Agency Program, many changes were made to remove anti-competitive elements from the program. From December 1st , 2007, the new program is now in effect and the immunity from the ACCC authorisation has now lapsed. For members, there will be very little noticeable difference except that the agreement sets out a far more equitable and modern partnership between forwarders and airlines.

AFIF will continue to work with Qantas and the SFT2 terminal managers (Secure Logistics) to ensure the best outcome of both safety and efficiency is achieved. Whilst new stock reflecting changes is currently being produced and will be available prior to March 18th, a timely reminder is given to all members who produce their own air waybills and / or use software to generate laser printed air waybills.
