PROGRAM DETAILS
We are delighted to announce the details of the AFIF 2007 Conference ... sure to be bigger and better than ever!
This year we are in Cairns, at the Cairns International, located in the heart of the city, directly across the road from the Casino, and minutes from shops, restaurants and Cairns foreshore.
The event is fast approaching. With only 10 weeks to go - start making your plans now! The full program and registration forms will be available at the end of February, but some highlights of this year's program include
- Michael Carmody, CEO, Australian Customs Service
Listen to what Michael has to say after being in his new position for over 12 months. Hear about Customs and Border Protection policies that affect trade and transport in the industry and be part of the discussion at the end of his presentation.
- Jonar Nader, author, journalist, lecturer, philosopher, futurist, consultant, and a corporate and social warrior.
There is too much to write about Jonar to try and fit it all in here! Jonar consults for a multitude of clients including Microsoft, IBM, and the Department of Defence. He will be joining us at the conference to talk about Terrorism, hackers and thieves and what this means for you as an individual and a company. He will be presenting another session, which will look at your working life - where work, rest and play can be all rolled into one. Jonar is also a successful author of a number of books. You can read more about Jonar and see him in action on his website: www.losefriends.com
- Airfreight Forum
With representation from airlines, IATA, the ACCC and Blake Dawson Waldron, this forum is not to be missed. The discussion will cover vital issues including the latest on the IATA changes to the Cargo Agency Program for Australia and the ACCC authorisation process, together with an update on IATA's ambitious global E-Freight Project and the related 'Message Improvement Program'.
- Security
Cargo security is being 'ramped' up as a result of independent reviews. Not sure who is in charge of what? Find out all about Customs new project for 'supply chain security' and the introduction of the 'Authorised Economic Operator'. Take the opportunity to find out the future plans from both Customs and DoTARS in this question and answer session.
-
Seafreight Forum
Always voted as one of the best sessions of the conference. This year, you will hear from some shipping lines - A case study in the set up of US Lines, the newest shipping line in the region, and also hear about the Fesco acquisition by Hamburg Sud. A panel will follow, joined by other industry leaders and you will have the chance to address issues important to your business.
- The Great Debate: Freight Forwarding is a Sexist Industry.
See the men vs women to debate a topic that everyone has an opinion on!
The Social Program will include a themed dinner - GREASE. Come in theme (white t-shirt and jeans will do the job!). We thank Cargowise EDI for their sponsorship of this night and hope you have your dancing shoes ready. We want to see if you were Born to Hand Jive Baby!!!
